Soleil & Dulse
Arrived: August 11, 2014
Adopted: Dulsey – March 13, 2015
Soleil – June 26, 2015
Every now and then, there is a kitten that arrives in my home that steals a piece of my heart. Both Soleil and Dulsey grabbed a big piece and never let go.
When Soleil her brother Dulsey arrived in my house in August of 2014, I pretty much thought they were a lost cause. Even before they arrived, they was given a notch in their ears so that if they had to be returned outside, we would know that they were already fixed and would not contribute to any more kittens. I was pretty much told that it was up to me on whether or not they would be returned outside. It was a big weight to put on my shoulders but I refused to let them down.
Dulsey ended up being the more social of the two kittens and quickly because a sweet and affectionate cat that loved to sit next to me on the couch and would often join me for morning cuddles. Although he was timid when new people would enter my house, he grew to love my friend Steve and wouldn’t leave him alone anytime he would stop by. Soleil on the other hand remained in a semi-feral state but was a pretty chill housecat. She did not want any human contact but lived alongside me with no issues. She would often join me at the dinner table when I would be eating pork and when she knew it was time for her wet food, she would twirl in the air and sing the songs of her people. She got along great with the other resident cats and was always a joy to have around my home. Letting her go was rather difficult as by the the time she was adopted, I had had her for nearly a year. It was like giving away my own cat.
